Jobs at Times of Jumland

The Times of Jumland is expanding its reporting network across the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) and around the world. Our mission is to amplify unheard Indigenous voices through independent, fact-based journalism. As our newsroom grows, we welcome dedicated individuals who want to contribute to meaningful reporting that serves the Jumma community and the global audience.

At this stage, we are not offering full-time paid employment. However, volunteers who consistently contribute to our reporting will receive recognition, professional credit, and—based on our future growth—honorarium or paid opportunities as they become available.

Who We Are Looking For

We invite passionate individuals from every upazila (sub-district) of the Chittagong Hill Tracts, as well as Indigenous people living abroad, to join our reporting network.

You may be a good fit if you are:

  • From the CHT and want to represent your community

  • Living abroad and want to report on Indigenous issues from your location

  • A student interested in journalism, photography, or research

  • Someone who can provide verified information and updates from your area

  • Committed to ethical, factual, and community-centered reporting

No prior professional experience is required—only honesty, responsibility, and a willingness to learn.

Available Volunteer Roles

You may apply to one or more roles below:

• Community Reporter
Cover news and events from your local area or the diaspora community.

• Photographer / Videographer
Capture verified images or footage for our stories.

• Research & Verification Assistant
Help verify facts, dates, and sources for published reports.

• Cultural & Language Correspondent
Share community perspectives, cultural updates, or translations.

• Opinion & Feature Writer
Write essays, reflections, and analytical pieces with an Indigenous perspective.

How We Support Volunteers

As part of The Times of Jumland team, volunteers receive:

  • Full credit for their contributions

  • Priority placement for future honorarium-based roles

  • Opportunities to develop journalism and media skills

  • A platform to represent their community internationally

  • Editorial guidance from our Tokyo Desk

As our readership and revenue grow, we aim to transition committed volunteers into paid contributors.

A Call to the CHT Diaspora

If you are an Indigenous person from the Chittagong Hill Tracts living abroad—in India, Japan, South Korea, Europe, Australia, Canada, or anywhere else—your perspective is invaluable.
Diaspora reporting is a key part of our mission, and we strongly encourage you to reach out.

The Times of Jumland believes that community journalism doesn’t end at borders.
